Roman's Ghana Research Exploration

Greetings, Supporters!
I have the opportunity to travel to Ghana for the purpose of completing research this summer. I leave Atlanta Thursday, May 22nd for Accra, Ghana and am currently scheduled to return to June 30th. In Ghana, I will examine the role that the queenmother--we will be specifically studying Fante queen mothers--plays in local agricultural sustainability projects. This research will be conducted through an ethnographic method and will utilize responses from personal interviews that my peers and I conduct.
Two years ago, I went to Ghana with the Morehouse Pan-African Global Experience (MPAGE) as a student and had a wonderful experience. I traveled to a Fante village called Gamou Dahum in Cape Coast, Ghana where I spent time with the paramount queen-mother of the Fante. From this experience, I became interested in how people respected the queen-mother role as a community leader and a symbol of collective power.
A part of my travel experience from two years ago is articulated on MPAGE's blog found at mpage1967.wordpress.com. This year, I'm excited to say that I'll be traveling with MPAGE again! You can check out what the MPAGE program is and what it offers to students here: http://www.morehouse.edu/academics/soc/mpage/
I have created a line-item list of expenses that I will be incurring as a result of going to Ghana this year. I hope that you donate to help me cover each of these expenses. Thank you so much for your assistance!
Ghana Trip Expenses:
$140- Burkina Faso Multi-Entry Visa
$100- Ghana Multi-Entry Visa
$73- Typhoid Fever Inoculation
$10- Professional Passport Photos Taken
$200- 1 Month Supply of Anti-Malarial Medicine
$800- Unpaid Study Abroad Fees (MPAGE)
$600- Hotel Lodging Costs 1 month
If you would like to support me financially, please donate what you can. I need you to help me make this project happen. If 100 people donate $20 I can reach my goal. I must have funds raised by May 19, 2014. With your help, I will be able to conduct some very worthy research and further the fields of political sociology, Africana Studies, and development studies in general.
**On May 19, 2014, an award from Morehouse College of $500 has been given to me tentatively. I will keep you abreast of any other funding changes, and notify you how I plan to address this change upon my return on June 30, 2014.
