BOBBY'S STORY
Queen
is the story of Bobby, an 11-year-old ball of fire, who is more seasoned than the average girl her age. She struggles to live a normal childhood as she battles homelessness on the eve of her becoming a woman.

Queen is a film that needs to be told and we need your help to tell it!

Queen addresses homelessness from the perspective of a young African American girl who is also coming of age. It’s a story that needs to be told; yet we don't often see it on screen. Bobby is brave, imaginative, fiery, adventurous, vulnerable, and still a growing girl all at the same time. She's still learning how to love herself and the world, even at a time when the world doesn’t seem to love her back.

Oftentimes we take for granted small conveniences that, sadly, are luxuries to many others. Bobby's story in Queen translates through the eyes of an 11-year-old. Simple things that come normally to many of us, suddenly become biting questions of survival for Bobby. How does a homeless girl deal with getting her first period when there’s no bathroom?

Queen shows a raw image of the world juxtaposed with the imagination of a child who’s been tainted by it. Bobby can’t choose her situation but she is forced to reconcile and find her worth in it.

Over half a million people are homeless and over 138,000 of those homeless people are children.
