Quality of Life for Adrian and family

My parents will never ask for help but they are the first to help anyone who needs it and so I’m asking for them. Everyone deserves great quality of life and my Dad doesn’t have that.
5 years ago my Dad began to lose his ability to move and the doctors haven’t been able to figure out why, the most comparable disease they have mentioned is ALS, though they still say it’s not that. Today at the young age of 71 my Dad is 100% confined to a chair with the inability to even lift his own legs and everyday tasks like feeding himself are a struggle, the worst part is his mind is still in tact.
A little over one year ago my Mom was forced to retire to stay home and take care of him, and our family home of 38 years was sold so they could move into a bungalow more conducive to my Dad’s condition. We’ve managed to renovate and to bring a hospital bed into the home to make transferring easier and it’s amazing the contraptions available these days to help with transferring to the toilet and such. Though costly, we are blessed to have PSW’s help out three times a day but my Dad’s routine never changes: wake up, wait for a PSW to get him out of bed, showered and shaved and transport him to a recliner in the living room where he sits all day until another PSW comes back at night to put him to bed. There is no quality of life for him and life for my Mom is very limited with having to be at home with him all day. Leaving the house is near impossible because of the inability to transfer him from his chair into a regular vehicle, never mind what happens while we’re out. He has 12 grandchildren and misses out on every sporting event, family outings don’t happen, aside from visitors to the house he sees no one. Appointment days that are usually dreaded have become a highlight for him because he actually gets to leave the house and go for a drive, thanks to Patient Transfer and their vehicles. Quality of life for my Dad would drastically improve if my parents had a vehicle that allowed him to remain in his wheelchair, the ramp from the house to outside has already been built, they just need the vehicle. The list of things he and my Mom would be able to do if he was only able to leave the house is endless and they deserve that so much.
For over 25 years my Mom served the community through the Grimsby Benevolent Fund, my Dad through the Grimsby Soccer Club, always giving back, my hope is to be able to finally help them and raise money for a conversion vehicle that I know will forever change their lives.
