Horse Therapy Happiness

Christian Wade Byers - our former 27-week, complicated preemie...is now 9. His journey has been lengthy and his challenges will be perpetual. He is still the most loving sweet guy you’ll ever meet. He was introduced to horseback riding, when he was 4 years old, while on a family trip. We realized how happy it made him and started him in horse therapy. Due to the benefits of motor, emotional, and sensory sensations that riding a horse provides, Christian has improved more than we could have imagined. He is so happy on the horse and the riding works muscles that can be difficult to exercise in the normal home environment. The unfortunate thing is that the therapy facility can only accomodate him once a week. We have decided to provide a long term plan to broaden his access to horse therapy. We are building a barn to house 2 horses and we have ample ground to incorporate a riding area that will allow Christian to get therapy every day. Horse ownership is quite costly, but the long term rewards will be worth it. With the assistance of therapy professionals, we will be selecting a horse and a companion, that have the right training and mannerism, to provide the intended results. We have never been a family that has asked for anything except prayers for Christian, but this plan requires some outside financial assistance. Horse supplies and veterinarian care, along with the initial purchase are the basis for our financial target of $8,000.00. Thank you for helping us help our son continue his progress.
