Victims of Camp fire

Our family has been devastated by the camp fire in Butte county Ca, we lost EVERYTHING . Although we still have each other and that is a huge blessing we could use help now with restarting our lives. My husband and I were in Chico when we saw the smoke and became aware of what was going on.  Our first thought was to jump in the car and go rescue our 11 year old daughter who was at school, but it became clear we could not get there. This was such a surreal feeling of helplessness. The fire was moving so fast that the schools primary goal was to get the children in any vehicle & get them as far away from the fire as possible.  A neighbor mom who was there picking up her 3 children, took our daughter along with her.  The car had got so hot that at one point they all jumped out and started to run on foot, but that proved to be more dangerous so they got back in the car.  Initially we did have contact and tried to calm them down, but soon after the connection failed.  What is normally a 20 min drive became the longest 3 hours of our lives before they arrived to safety.

We came to San Jose because we have some relatives here, and are looking to start over and hopefully we can get back to some sort of normal.  Please consider helping EVEN if it's just a 1$.
