<div>One of the warmest, kindest and most fun-loving people in our life - our best friend and loved one Chloe has been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer at just 27 - only a few months after losing her younger brother Ben in a tragic accident.

<div>Needing to take so much time off work while looking to build a family and a future with her partner Tom, Chloe deserves all our support.

<div>She’s passionate, fiercely caring, and one of the most resilient people you’ll ever meet. Chloe is well-loved not only in and around Newcastle, where she has been working full-time as a high school special education teacher, but also in her hometown of Gloucester.

</div>

<div>She gives her whole heart to her students and has spent the last few years lifting up and caring for some of the most vulnerable young people in our community.

</div>

<div>But 2025 has brought heartbreak and challenges that no one should ever have to face.

</div>

<div>In March, Chloe and her family were completely shattered by the sudden, tragic loss of her younger brother, Ben. The pain of losing Ben has been enormous. Chloe took much-needed time off work to help her family plan his funeral, to support her parents, and to try to process her own grief as they all experienced the unimaginable.

<div>Eventually, with the love of her friends and colleagues, Chloe returned to the classroom. She was excited to see her students again and find a sense of normal after so much loss.

</div>

</div>

<div>But in late May, Chloe found a small, painless lump under her left arm. It didn’t feel right — and she trusted her gut. After seeing her doctor and going through a whirlwind of scans and appointments, Chloe was told the news no one ever wants to hear.

</div>

<div>On June 13th, Chloe was diagnosed with <strong>Stage 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. </strong>It has spread to her local lymph nodes and is known to be one of the more aggressive and fast-moving forms of breast cancer. There is no known family history of breast cancer in Chloe’s family, which has made this diagnosis all the more shocking and devastating for her and everyone who loves her.

<div>She’ll be starting chemotherapy very soon, followed by surgery.

</div>

</div>

<div>Before starting treatment, Chloe has made the brave and hopeful decision to freeze her eggs to give herself and her amazing partner, Tom, the opportunity to try for children in the future. In NSW, the cost of egg freezing can start from $8,000, a cost not fully covered by Medicare or private health.

</div>

</div>

<div>Chloe has now requested indefinite leave from her role as a teacher. With no remaining sick or personal leave available after the time she took off to grieve the loss of Ben, Chloe is now facing cancer treatment without an income, all while still trying to process everything her family has already endured this year. Her family has already been through so much and simply can’t shoulder this financial weight alone.
