Our dear, sweet friend and sister in Christ, Renee McDonald, was diagnosed with non-operable Stage 3B Lung Cancer on July 10th 2017. By the time she was diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to both lungs and multiple lymph nodes. Unfortunately, because of the location and type of cancer, the doctors are unable to operate. Her cancer is very aggressive and so therefore, her treatments will be aggressive. She has already had her first round of chemo and will have radiation on a daily basis. Renee is a fighter and already handling her treatments like a true champ but she has a very long road to go. Renee has already cut off her long beautiful hair into a short stylish bob to prepare for the loss of her hair, which will more than likely start any day now.
Renee’s treatments are expected to last anywhere from 6-8 months, therefore she had to take a medical leave of absence from her job at Westminster Christian Academy where she has worked and supported her daughter as a single mom for the last 11 years. Renee has poured into and graciously served and taken care of everyone else and now is the time we can stand together and take care of her. Renee was already on a very fixed and limited income and had to make many sacrifices on a daily basis to provide for her and her daughter without any help or support. Because she is on a medical leave of absence, she will have little to no income to continue to provide for herself and her daughter. Her daughter is just starting high school and we all know as parents there are lots of expenses that come along with that, not to mention the ton of medical bills already pilling up, medication expenses and unexpected needs that come along with this diagnosis. And let’s not forget she was already struggling to pay her normal monthly bills of mortgage, utilities, etc. Renee may need help with around the clock care in the future during her treatments since she is again single. Our hope and prayer is to take the financial burden off of Renee so that she may use all of her strength and energy to fight this long tough road ahead of her and to continue to raise her 14-year-old daughter.
Renee is already so blessed and very thankful for the love, support and help that she has received from her church, friends, family and Westminster Christian Academy but she is still very much in need of more help to get her through these next 6-8 months of treatment and lack of income. Any help and prayers that you can give will be tremendously appreciated. Let’s all stand together and help our friend through the biggest struggle of her life and pray for Gods complete and ultimate healing over her so that she may continue to be here for her precious daughter and continue her mission in life of serving others.
We thank you in advance for your help and prayers. We will keep you updated on her health through this website. #TeamMcDonald aka Ms. Donald
