Imagine for a moment that you are at work running your own business and doing the work you love. On your way home you are pulled over by the police. In a very short time you find yourself on a plane, handcuffed with dozens of others. Next thing you know, you are in a prison in Texas thousands of miles from your home.

What is your crime? You weren’t born here. It matters not that you arrived over 20 years ago as a small child from a country you don’t remember. It matters not that you applied for citizenship years ago and have been waiting and waiting. It matters not that you have started your own family here. You will be shipped out - perhaps to some random country - never to return. Perhaps, never to see you wife and children again. No job and no means for survival.

This isn’t some story I made up. This is Daniel’s story. The kind, funny, helpful young man whose landscaping business has cut my lawn each week for the past 3 years.

I thought I was helpless to do anything - but I'm going to raise money to help his family pay for his lawyer. I also wrote a letter and had it sent to his attorney - I'll I will pray to Saint Rita, the patron saint of the impossible.
