Hello family and friends!
If you are at all familiar with Nelson Mandela you may be aware of a profound statement he used to inspire others, that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This statement echoes many reasons why I embarked on this journey to become a Physician Assistant and as my clinical year of PA school approaches I have been gifted a unique opportunity, but I cannot accomplish it without your help.
I have been offered an incredible opportunity through Gardner-Webb’s PA Program to work with a non-profit healthcare clinic called CerviCusco. This organization offers comprehensive medical care for men, women, and children in Cusco, Peru. In my 4-week rotation I will be focusing on women’s health care. Sadly, the incidence of cervical cancer in Peru is 50% more than the South American average; every day more than 10 women die from cervical and breast cancer alone. Thus, I feel called to help lower these staggering statistics by providing medical care for those in need. While in Peru, I will work with a team to provide preventive health screenings, vaccinations and treatments to thousands of women and children.
All money raised will go towards lodging expenses and medical supplies used to care for and treat patients seen. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the opportunity to give, my part in CerviCusco’s mission, or the trip in general. The deadline to submit my funds is the end of August 2019. Your support, love, and prayers as I move forward with this opportunity are greatly appreciated.

In closing, this vigorous didactic year of Physician Assistant school with its struggles and challenges has imparted upon me the knowledge to help change the world that Nelson Mandela envisioned.
