Gardens Against The Odds

Donation protected

In the most extreme of situations, in the darkness of human suffering and loss, there must be a path made to bring in light and life.

For the month of July, we will be working on the ground with The Nameless Project and The Tuli Initiative in Lalogi, Uganda to help plant gardens to feed the body and lift the spirit. Reclaiming land that is now identified as "red-dirt," drenched with the blood of decades of war, we will be hand ploughing, seeding and watering to give a new identity and meaning to the land, and to feed the returning community. Please share in my joy in this project!

~ A garden offers a way to reject suffering, an inherent affirmation and sign of human perserverance. In contrast to war, gardens assert the dignity of life. They are a reconnection to the land, a recreation of home, and they embody hope. The meaning is magnified by the context of war and the garden's defiant response to human conditions and the condition of the land. ~
