For My Mam and Grandad

Donation protected
So, as many of you may know, my mam suffered with mental illness in the last years of her life. Although Tallaght hospital tried their best there simply wasn’t the services or even the know-how to help her or our family. However, my mam did attend Pieta House and as many may remember, she fundraised a lot for them through darkness into light, several raffles and even over €1200 at her funeral. I would like to continue that on in her memory.
Pieta House is an amazing service but relies heavily on donations and fundraisers. They are also under immense pressure as there are so many people out there who suffer the way my mam did. They also provide a bereavement service. As these services are so important, appointments can be hard to come by. Raising money for Pieta House means opening more centres with more councillors and ultimately making sure less people have to go through what my family did. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
Two months after my mam passed, her father (my Grandad) joined her. He had suffered with Alzheimer’s for years. Families caring for someone with Alzheimer’s know the pressure and heartbreak this can also cause for families.
For these reasons, with the help of my uncle, his friends and mine, I have decided to face an immense fear and on the 28th of July I will jump out of a plane in the hope a parachute will deliver me safely to the ground. The cost of the jump will be completely covered by myself so all proceeds go directly to Pieta House and the funds raised by others will go to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Please give what you can.
