Santa Barbara School Supply Drive

Hello! We are a local youth collective comprised of members from SBHS Ethnic Studies Club, Ortega Park Youth Brigade, #OccupyOrtegaPark, and local community members. We are fundraising for a School Supply Drive open to all k-12 local youth that will take place on August 13, 2022 at Ortega Park from 11-3pm/ while supplies last.

For our third annual year, our goal is to raise $5,000 for school supplies to give back to the youth. Your contribution will go towards an abundance of school supplies such as: backpacks, notebooks, binders, planners, pencils, pens, highlighters, folders, sticky notes, crayons, colored pencils, etc.

Materials will be distributed to youth and their families on Saturday August 13th, at Ortega Park from 11-3pm/ until supplies last. We plan to create an empowering space that day that will encourage youth through art workshops, youth activities, entertainment, and more! In addition, we will be hosting the Turning Wheel Project Bus (AKA the "Barrio Bus") visiting from Chicano Park in San Diego, Califas. The Turning Wheel Project will showcase an art exhibit uplifting local youth's art.

Back in 2020 during the midst of the pandemic, we were able to raise a total of $1,900 and give school supply kits to over 150 students. Last year in 2021, we raised a total of $3,628 and distributed about 330 backpacks with school supply kits.
