We're Black Girls Brunch UK, an event space committed to amplifying and empowering Black Women. Due to COVID-19 we have put a pause on all events for 2020. But we are planning AMAZING things for 2021 and beyond.
So often Black Women are ‘one of’ in a room of professionals. We created this event to remind Black Women that they are not alone, that there are likeminded women who deal with challenges and the same issues that they too face. By creating an event for Black Women to network and connect with others in different fields, thus creating professional and personal relationships; we hope to aid in the empowerment and growth of Black Women as a collective.
Our main events are comprised of guest speakers, a facilitated workshop, a discussion and of course food and networking. We also provide gift bags to each of our attendants; these are predominately made up of Black Women Owned businesses.
Up until now, Black Girls Brunch has been funded by generous one off donations, friends and family. We are in desperate need of consistent help and have set up a Patreon Account in order to try to make this a reality. Become a Patreon
However, we are aware that monthly commitments are not feasible for everyone. We have had a few requests asking to make one off payments so we wanted to set up a GO FUND ME in order to make donating a little more accessible.
We are committed to placing Black Women at the forefront, in a world that so often places them below. We focus on creating an experience for our attendees, from the venue decor, to the gift bags they walk away with. Every moment is thought out, planned and created to enhance the event. Please do support us, donate and help us share our message far and wide!
DONATIONS:
We will use the donations to help curate and run our events. This is everything from venue hire and decor to paying our guest speakers and workshop facilitators. Each Black Girls Brunch has a theme which we use to focus on a particular need within our community, our last one being Mental Health, where we had two Black Women therapist as our speakers and workshop facilitators.
We want to be able to pay
- The Black professionals that work with us.
- The Black Women who help bring BGB together.
- The vendors who contribute to our wonderful gift bags that our ladies walk away with.
We want our pricing to be accessible to Black Women from all backgrounds. We want to cover transport costs.
Alongside our main brunches, we want to put on other events throughout the year to support our community. We want to host retreats and partner with other Black Women owned organisations.
Lastly, it is important to note that Black Girls Brunch started in Plymouth as a direct result of feelings of isolation in a predominately white town. While we are now based in London, we are conscious that we do not become London-centric. We are Black Girls Brunch UK and want to support and create space for all Black Women within the UK.
We are doing valuable and much needed work. Your support means we can continue to provide and extend our reach to Black Women all over the UK and beyond.
