Enrique's Medical Fund

Donation protected
On the evening of Friday, July 7 2017, during our family camping trip, my brother, Enrique Hernandez Jr (Kike) was hit by a firework above his left eye.  He was immediately transported by ambulance to the ER at the local hospital in the small town of Monticello, IN.  Since they are not equipped to deal with trauma patients, he had to be airlifted to the nearest trauma hospital which was in Indianopolis (IU Health Methodist Hospital).  While at Methodist Hospital he was treated, tested, scanned and had emergency surgery early Saturday morning.  Doctors explained to us that they were not hopeful regarding saving his eye and explained the possibility of removing it in the near future.

Since his surgery he has seen 3 different doctors seeking opinions and exploring the possibility of regaining his vision.  However, the severity of the damage was quite extensive, it has resulted in the loss of vision in the damaged eye.  The only option is enucleation (the removal of the eye) after which time he will be evaluated and fitted for a prosthetic eye.

He's home now and is resting when he can in between doctor appointments and tests.  Not being able to work, his bills and medical expenses have began and will continue to grow.

He has come to terms with and has accepted the reality of living with one eye.  The overwhelming amount of love and support we have received from family and friends near and far is beyond what we could have ever imagined.  My family and I are eternally grateful and thank you all so very much.

We are generally private when it comes to personal matters such as this but in the same breath have come to the realization of the road to recovery that lies ahead not only physically and emotionally but financially as well.

We are doing our best to support my brother Kike both emotionally and financially but unfortunately we are having a difficult time as well.  It is for this reason, we humbly ask for your support in any form whether monetary or an extra prayer so that he may continue the road to recovery.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, support, love and prayers.
