Hi, my name is Tasha Chanda, and I’m reaching out to share my journey with you. It’s not an easy story, but I believe that with your support, I can continue my fight and work toward my dream of completing my education and building a brighter future for my family.
In December 2020, my life was forever changed. After months of persistent stomach pain and extreme fatigue, I sought medical help. What followed was a series of diagnoses that no one ever expects to hear. First, I was told I had pneumonia, enlarged lymph nodes, and anemia. I started treatment and had a blood transfusion to address dangerously low blood levels. But things didn’t improve. I was soon given even more devastating news: cancer of the abdomen and lymphoma, tumors in my legs and spine, liver thrombosis, kidney issues, and, to top it off, tuberculosis.
The toll on my health has been overwhelming. I underwent surgery in May 2021 to remove a tumor from my abdomen, and in November 2021, I had another surgery to remove a lymph node from my neck. Since then, I’ve been on a strict chemotherapy regimen, enduring constant pain and exhaustion. These treatments are necessary to save my life, but they’ve left me unable to attend classes regularly or work part-time jobs to support myself.
I’m currently studying for my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering and Mechatronics, and despite my health struggles, I’ve remained determined to continue my education. However, the combination of mounting medical expenses and unpaid tuition has made it almost impossible for me to keep up with my studies. I had always relied on part-time work to pay for my tuition, but because of my illness, I could no longer manage a job or attend school as I once did.
As if that wasn’t enough, my family is still recovering from the loss of my father to cancer, and my mother is bearing much of the financial burden as she helps me through my treatments. It’s a heavy load for all of us.
This campaign is a call for help. I am seeking funds to cover my ongoing medical treatments, including chemotherapy and surgeries I will have to undergo. This will also to help to pay for my daily living expenses—rent, utilities, and groceries—so that I can focus on my recovery and hopefully will my education.
Every donation, no matter how small, will bring me one step closer to recovering, completing my studies, and building a better future for my family. If you can’t donate, I would be incredibly grateful if you could share my story with others who may be able to help.
I believe in my ability to overcome this, but I can’t do it alone. Your support means everything to me.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Tasha Chanda
