My name is Courtney McGill, I'm a 21-year-old college student from Racine MN. I love to hang out with friends and family. I like my camo and my bling. I enjoy shopping, fishing, bonfires, camping, really anything outdoors.
On December 22, 2017, while I was working at Roger and Hollands I became short of breath because I was busy going from case to case helping customers. I called my mom and she picked me up after work and took me to St. Mary's Hospital. Upon X-rays and multiple tests, I was diagnosed with stage 4 intrahepatic bile duct (Liver) cancer on December 29,2017..... that was hard to swallow. Since this diagnosis, everything has been very overwhelming. I started chemotherapy on January 8, 2018. I'll be doing chemo on a weekly basis with 10 days between treatments. I'll be doing 16 cycles of chemo to start with.
After the 4th cycle, they will do more scans of the tumor to see if the chemo has been shrinking the tumor. If it has shrunk, it may be possible to have the tumor removed. If not, I will continue with the same chemo.
Thankfully, the Mayo Clinic, Rochester is close by and I am able to receive the best medical care. However, with my treatment, my family and I have had to cut back on working, therefore we will be experiencing financial strains with medical bills and everyday expenses.
