Danny Hammer Foundation

Donation protected

Daniel Hammer, 18 months old and his parents, Chris and Sarah Hammer and sister Natalie, live in the Gardnerville, Nevada .

When Daniel began bleeding from his mouth, on Saturday, May 5, 2012 his parents took him to the ER and from thence he was transferred to Renown Hospital, NV. He has been in and out of hospitals since then. It was thought he might have ITP, an auto immune disorder. Then they discovered he had a viral suppression which attacked his bone marrow. This caused a very severe case of Aplastic Anemia.

Since then, Daniel has had several platelet transfusions and many red blood cell transfusions. He needs a bone marrow transplant as his own marrow is failing. His sister Natalie, aged four was tested and unfortunately is not a match.

He has had a total of 5 platelet transfusion, and had a Broviac Port surgically put in for weekly blood testing.

The bone marrow transplant will require that Daniel be at Oakland Children's Hospital in California for a minimum of 30 days. This will cause Chris and Sarah to be faced with many financial difficulties.

Their health insurance says they will not help financially to find a bone donor. Just finding this donor alone is about $10,000- not including the procedure itself. This also does not include the expensive medications, or the frequent doctor check ups that are required until a donor is matched.

Daniel is currently being treated between Oakland Children's Hospital in California and various health professionals in Nevada near his home.

We are asking for any donations that people can find to help, any amount helps. Thank you for your time and consideration.
