Eating Protein Saves Lives

This has been a challenging year for everyone. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, we witnessed the onset of an opioid overdose epidemic which has only gotten much worse.

 

To fight the opioid epidemic, and those struggling with substance use disorder, we are asking for your help in two major ways. The first is to support the PSA campaign that I am launching.

This is a GoFundMe fundraiser to put targeted messaging on billboards in some of the hardest-hit regions of the nation for opioid overdose deaths. The billboards will be supported by an informative website, online webinars, and social media messaging as well.

We are spreading the word about how feeding the brain, what it needs to function optimally, may both reduce cravings and dramatically improve the quality of life for those in recovery or who are dealing with substance use disorders.

 

Poor nutrition clearly plays a significant role in drug and alcohol relapse rates, and robust nutrition along with nutrition education can improve the quality and success of treatment programs. The time is now to make a difference!

Next, we need your support in letting other people know about this. Clinical experience and growing research show that a protein-starved brain has more cravings and does not function well. Poor nutrition and skipping meals lead to cravings and relapse.
