A Helping Hand for a Friend

I'd like you to meet a dear friend. This is Mr. Rickey Smith (66, soon to be 67) and I've known him most my life. Mr. Smith is a senior citizen living in Indiana and has fallen on very hard times. At present he is homeless and due to a number of health issues, he is unable to work.
Recently, after several surgeries and his wife of 35 years, divorcing him without warning, he has nothing left to survive on his own. He continues to fight in divorce court for justice. I am hopeful that my fundraising on his behalf will get him through another winter (this is #3) living on the street, supply a nominal amount for 1 meal a day and perhaps some left over to pay occassionally for a room and a bed to rest and lay his head and bathe.
Mr. Smith is permanently disabled and is not supposed to work, but following the divorce, he forced himself to work against doctors orders which resulted in further damage to an already broken body. A broken hand, leg, knee and shoulder on top of his foot rebuilt decades ago that is now failing under the stress of using it to work - against doctors orders, he saw no other means to survive except to work. His plan did not work out. I continue to help financially as I am able and by encouraging him to hold on.
