Dearest members of Angela’s Army:
As many of you are aware our friend Angela was involved in an accident on September 5th 2018. She was doing what she loves most and riding her new Mule up Larry Creek near Florence, MT. It is believed that part of the equipment used to secure the saddle called a crupper caused the mule some discomfort and he reacted by losing Angela out of the saddle. Angela is a very skilled rider and had all safety gear in place and had a helmet on. She was dutifully excercising all safety precautions but as we sometimes say, “shit happens”!
She ended up taking the brunt of her injuries to her face but also when she landed it hyperextended her neck in such a fashion that she sustained an occipital fossa fracture, C1, C2-5 and T8 compression fractures. Initially she was stabilized at CMC (her home base) but due to acuity and fear of neuro trauma, she was transferred to Providence Wednesday night and was in the ICU. She remains in the ICU at this present time but is a neuro patient and when room is available she will move to the neuro floor. Today she was fitted for a TLSO brace that she will be in for a bare minimum of 6 weeks. She has already inquired quite the bill as you might imagine the activation of 2 separate trauma teams at 2 different hospitals might do. We are looking for any help just to pay the deductible as she is insured through her workplace, but the deductible needs to be met first. She will be out of work for at least 6 weeks but I honestly think more like 3-4 months.
This is a top notch all American family!
A prayer chain was started on Facebook today and the outdoor of support let’s us know just how loved our dear friend is!
Angela is as strong if not stronger than that darn mule and will be back in the saddle as soon as she is medically cleared to do so!
Lets band together and show Angela, her sweet husband Danny and their daughter Freja that no one (let me say it louder for those of you in the back) NO ONE fights alone!
