Volunteer in Guatemala
Donation protected
My name is Alexis Barbery and I am a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University, in the nursing program. This summer I have the opportunity to travel to Guatemala for a week-long volunteer trip. I will have a chance to help with health screenings, tooth brushing education, applying fluoride to kid's teeth, cervical screenings, listening to heart and lung sounds and providing foot clinics for Mayan women. We will be visiting several rural Mayan villages, learning about the culture, and attending a co-op.
We are also trying to raise additional money so that each volunteer can donate a stove to a family.
My trip expenses include airfare, hotel, food, a bus and bus driver to take us to the villages and money to donate stoves to families in need.
This is an experience of a lifetime and I am looking forward to helping others less fortunate than us. If any of my family and friends can help make this dream a reality, I would be forever grateful and I promise to make you proud. This is just the beginning of my nursing future and I'm sooo excited to begin!
