For those of you who don't know, on March 8th, 2018, Gil Long has a massive stroke caused by extremely high blood pressure that caused a carotid artery dissection.

He was rushed to the ER and admitted at Mease Countryside where he moved between the ICU & CCU for almost two weeks before being moved to Largo Rehab. He is working hard, learning how to walk & talk again and is able to move his right arm & leg finally! His verbal communication is improving every day and he's become quite skilled at charades when the words are out of reach.

Gil is working hard and making progress everyday. However, the reality of the situation is that this is going to be a long, slow journey.

He meets with physical, occupational and speech therapists daily and visitors are highly encouraged to keep his brain working hard! So please go by and visit!!

Here's the thing, though - during the next several months to potentially a year or more, he's got no income coming in and we are desperately trying to keep paying his bills and save his house!

We are in the process of applying for SSDI, but they say it can take 6 months or more and the bills are piling up. His medical bills are staggering since he had no health insurance - but we are hopeful that he will qualify for medicaid soon and that should help with the medical stuff, but the immediate problem is paying his utilities, the minimums on credit cards and making his mortgage payments.

Even though he was working for a Skybridge Resources (a temp agency) and placed at Veriphone as a contracted employee for the past 8 months, they did not provide any medical insurance or benefits, so there is literally NO money coming in at the present.

While both companies been amazing as far as getting him to the ER when he had the stroke at work, to calling and checking in on him regularly, it's not like they can help with his sudden lack of income.

So here we are.

If you can, please help Gil - we don't want this awful event to destroy his life financially.

If you know Gil, you know he is busting his ass to get better so he can get back to work!

He's in good spirits and that attitude will see him through to recovery, we just want to make sure he still has a home waiting for him!!

Please donate and share this campaign!

Much love and our eternal thanks,
Carla, Koof and Gil
