Smart Brailler For Trey

Donation protected
I am starting this account to help my niece and great nephew. My niece D'Awndra is the mother of 2 kids and her 7 year old son Trey is visually impaired. Trey is in need of a Smart Brailler to help with reading and other subjects.

Trey's Story:

Trey was born with ONH(Optic Nerve Hypoplasia) and Hydrocephalus. He was diagnoised when he 2 months old. His parents were told that Trey would not read, write, speak or eat solid foods, and that he would be mentally retarded and unable to learn like "normal" children. They were told he would be completely dependent on them for the rest of his life.

Trey faced many challenges in his first few years from brain surgery, multiple hospital stays, scans, laboratory test and more. He is truly a trooper and he has proven that with God anything is possible.

Trey's parents made the difficult decision in 2016 to send him to Baton Rouge, LA for the best schooling the state had to offer him.  He currently attends school with children who have similar challenges to the ones that he faces. He learns in an environment that caters to children with his needs and he is thriving in that environment. Trey is reading, doing math, science and all the things children his age should be doing in spite of his disability.

This leads to the reason for this campaign. Trey is in need of a Smart Brailler (this is like our pen and paper). The Smart Brailler, unlike regular braillers allows those that can't read Braille to hear and see what is being input. This would allow Trey's family members to assist him with his homework when he is home. He currently uses a brailler for school but it is school property and does not have this added functionality.  His mother has exhausted all avenues to include insurance coverage and non-profits assistance but has been unable to secure any funding. This mechanism is very costly with the price tag of $2,300 including carrying case.

His mother Dee is a loving and wonderful mother. I say this not just because she is my niece but because I believe God gave Trey to her because she was equipped for the challenges that Trey would face. She never asks  for anything and she never complains about anything that she has to do for her children.  She is also very giving and will help ANYONE in need.

Now I am asking those who will to come together with me and help her. Any donation to this campaign would be greatly appreciated, but if you are unable to give, just sharing this campaign with others would be very helpful.
