Brian's Stem Cell Transplant Fund

Donation protected
Hi everyone, as you may or may not know, John's brother Brian has been undergoing treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia since the beginning of 2016.

Unfortunately, this isn't Brian's first encounter with cancer as he underwent surgery and intensive chemotherapy the previous year for tumors in his lymph nodes. It was just a week before the Christmas holiday of 2015 that we got the great news he was in remission for the original cancer, and then just a few short weeks later, with pains in his legs, the horrible news that without intense chemo immediately, he would have a month or so to live.  If if he survived the treatment, his only option was to have a stem cells transplant...in Halifax.

Brian has been a Titan through all of this. He's been in quarantine a few times with his compromised immune system, infection after infection, and grim statistics. But he's finally made it to the point where he will soon receive a stem cell transplant, which has the potential to cure him.  Again, the statistics are grim, with a 1 in 4 survival of the procedure itself, but we have faith that he's far too stubborn to let go after everything he's been through!

What I'm trying to get to is this: you've never met more supportive and loving parents in all your life than Catherine and Wade Barrett.  And they would never in a million years think of asking for help. However, they've got me now (lucky them!) to ask on their behalf. The travel costs and accommodations associated with going to Halifax for Brian's course of treatment is not covered. Catherine will stay for at least six weeks (estimated time of recovery) and Wade will go up with them, return home to work, and then return again for a while and to hopefully bring them home.

Any any financial help (and good mojo) are welcomed and so greatly appreciated. Of all things, money just shouldn't be something they have to worry about at this time. Even if you could please share this post, it would be a help.

Again, thanks for all donations, great and small!
