We are the Cook family! We are currently facing a profoundly challenging and distressing situation as our septic system has unexpectedly broken down leaving us in urgent need of repairs. We have been working with the city who capped off our septic in April to come up with a plan on hooking up to the city sewers through a neighbours yard. As we dont actually have sewers on our street and our yard is to small to have a septic system in place. So our only option is the city sewer. We bought this house 4 years ago and unfortunatley inherited this issue unknowingly. Without the money to hook up we will be facing loosing our home and having it condemed. A:

we dont have enough equity to fix the issue. The septic issue has cost us tons of money in weekly septic clean outs, laywer fees and surveying. Than we have sewer hook ups, plus the cost of the work. Its 25 thousand for the hook up fees; 18 thousand for the work plus any unexpected fees.

This unfortunate circumstance comes at a particularly tough time as our young son is very unwell and is undergoing testing for a rare genetic disease and requires a clean and safe home environment. The stress of our child’s illness is compounded by the financial strain we are under as we simply do not have enough funds to cover the costly repair expenses associated with our septic system plus my husbands time missed at work for hospital visits, specialized genetic testing, drs visits and more.

Our son kai has cerebral palsey, optic atrophy/legally blind, and hydrocephalus. He spends most of his days violently ill and in pain and we just need to have one less thing to worry about.

In light of these difficult times we are reaching out to our community for assistance hoping that the kindness and generosity of others can help alleviate some burden.
