My name is April White and I am only 63 years old. In the beginning of August 2015, I went to the doctor believing I had either a kidney infection or arthritis. My world was forever changed when the doctor told me I had cancer lesions in multiple places in my body. I was shocked and terrified as I had felt fine before my hip started hurting and was still working hard as ever as a housekeeper. I rarely had to take a sick day!
Since my diagnosis I can no longer work which is why I'm asking for donations to help me seek treatment and fight this terrible disease.
Just between August and December, I have had to go through multiple CT and body scans, and 2 rounds (10 each) of emergency radiation treatments to prevent paralysis and choking.
During those extremely difficult and stressfull times, my entire body system was weakened by those multiple radiation treatments and steroids that I had to take to keep my brain from possibly swelling. Although I had begun to do better, my bones were so weakened by the steroids that my upper femur broke.
There was a conversation about not doing surgery but with much pleading and great determination I was able to get a skilled surgeon to insert a rod into my leg so I can walk. Yes! WALK!!. I am not going to give up! I am in rehab now and the doctors tell me they have heard great things about my improvement.
All my life I have tried to help others and do the right thing. I never thought I would be in a situation where I needed to have others help me. I want to have a longer life... to be there for those who need me. I KNOW I can do it but I need your help. After tons of prayer, research and discussions,I have found that I have many options still available to me, but of course they have a cost. I have faith that I can take some of those options...my faith is bigger than my fear! I'm asking you to find it in your heart to help me conquer this dreaded disease.
