Help my daughter get help she needs

Donation protected
This is our daughter when she was glad to be alive, and when everyone told us how much fun she was to be around. She had lots of friends and was a high achiever at school. This all changed at secondary - now she can hardly get out of bed to go to school. Her story is a very typical pattern of undiagnosed autism, where the child can hold it together for the first 10 or so years of their life, when the hormones hit and secondary transition is too much to bear, the 'front' that they have created for the world comes crashing down. And our world certainly crashed.

We have had to do a lot of learning in a short space of time on ASD and the way in which it manifests, and have learned that the NHS assessment is one based on boy behaviours. Our daughter can't access an assessment because of her 'social' skills - the main one being that she has a sense of humour! CAMHS, being strapped for cash and limited by NHS guidelines, have so far yet to provide any concrete assessment of her needs.

The National Autistic Society has recognised the shortcomings of the assessment used by the NHS and devised one which picks up traits displayed by girls. We are desperate for our daughter to be seen by a professional who can give us the answers we seek, and get her the support she needs to restart her education.

This obviously comes at a cost, and we are not able to meet their fee. We would be eternally grateful for any help you can give, and I'm sure our daughter will be in the future.
