Hi Everyone,
We are fundraising for Jim Skidmore.
On Jan 11, Jim had a massive heart attack that blew a hole in the Septum of his heart. He drove himself to the small, local hospital nearby to be admitted, but his condition was more severe than the hospital was prepared to treat. From there, he was transferred to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he could be treated with the intensity required to save his life.
After undergoing three major open-heart surgeries, as well as multiple invasive procedures, the amazing team of surgeons, nurses, and fellows are astounded by his progress. He was taken off of the ECMO machine within a few short days, which is a terrific step in the healing process, though he remains on a balloon pump and ventilator. While the team is optimistic about the outcome, there is still a very long way to go.
His family has gathered in support, and been at his side, making tough decisions, and seeing him through this trauma. His Son, Devin, was the first to get the call from the hospital and has been at the hospital every day since. His daughter, Sarah, and the kids' Mom flew from San Diego on the morning of the 11th to stay there with him. His siblings, friends, and community members are rallying support as much as they can.
Jim has been serving his community as a Master Mechanic for more than forty years. In his business, there is not a more trusted or skilled set of hands to fix any problem. In his life, he's a loving father and devoted friend, the kind of person that would give the shirt off his own back to someone who needs it. Jim is the person you go to when you need help.
There are big life changes afoot, and the family and Jim need your financial help. We cannot do this alone. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover medical bills, insurance payments, rent, and long-term care for Jim's recovery post-hospital.
It is a humble thing, to ask for help, and we are all so grateful for any amount that you can donate.
Jim is a beloved soul with many friends and family in the community. We are all so thankful for your support.
