On the 14th of November my son Ethan was diagnosed with cancer. (Medulloblastoma)
Ethan is an extremely special boy. He loves reading and that makes him an extremely pleasant companion. He can talk and tell you all about the so many different things he loves. Ethan is now 8 years old. He has been a healthy boy in every way. However, in the beginning of Oct. of this year, he started having frequent headaches, vomiting and seeing double. I took him to his doctor and nothing seemed to be wrong with Ethan. I asked the doctor if perhaps was his eyesight. He reads a lot and I'm always asking him to read with plenty of light. His primary doctor referred him to the eye doctor. I took Ethan to the eye doctor on November the 12th. I really thought he was just going to come out of the office needing eye glasses. After a few eye exams the eye doctor realized that something else was wrong. She told me to take him to the ER as Ethan was showing high pressure in his brain. I could tell how concerned she was. I still didn't think of anything. I took him to the ER and once admitted the doctors at the hospital told me Ethan needed a CT scan. After the CT scan was done; the ER head doctor sat me down and gave me the news. They found that Ethan had a tumor in his brain and needed brain surgery right away. I usually don't cry in front of people, but I couldn't contain myself. I was devasted. Ethan went through brain surgery on the 13th of Nov. The tumor was removed; but now we needed to know what kind of tumor it was. The Oncologist informed us that the tumor was malignant. The type of tumor is Medulloblastoma. He will begin 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy after that at St. Jude's Hospital. The treatment will take approximate a whole year. I'm starting this campaign so that anyone who wanted to help alleviate some of the costs we're about to endure could do so. Prayers are also welcome!
PS. Ethan's birthday is on the 13th of December.
