Denver Homeless Winter Kit Fundraising

The first yellow leaf announces the coming of autumn and winter; and with it, the holiday season. With COVID-19 this holiday season will be a little different for all of us, but most of us are still able to stay in our social bubbles, a warm house, and celebrate what we are thankful for. It is the time for hot chocolate and cozy blankets, perfect to stay inside…for those who have a home.
But for the homeless, fall and winter cause anxiety, especially our brothers and sisters in Denver. Many will scramble to find decent gently used coats and newspapers to stay warm. Some may receive the help of the community and their families to battle the weather. However, some of our most vulnerable, single homeless adults may not have a support system. With the economic crisis we are facing due to this pandemic, even some families with children find themselves exposed to the elements and staying outside. Those who sleep outdoors in the cold, face the risk of dehydration, frostbite, and/or hypothermia.
With the help of our communities, this is the 4th year I will be fundraising for essential items that will help our houseless neighbors to get through another harsh winter here in Denver, Colorado. I have chosen to work with Father Woody's day shelter to distribute these items to ensure we get these essential items distributed in a safe manner.
With 15 weeks to the end of the year holiday seasons, with just 1 dollar a week ($15) you can help a houseless neighbor with a pair of gloves, a blanket, a pair of socks, a hygiene bag (a mask, a bottle of hand sanitizer, a toothbrush and a tooth paste), and some fresh bagels.
In 2019/2020, we lost 108 Denverites on the street. Let's warm up the streets of Denver, it can make a huge difference to someone's life this year with your help! Donate today, every dollar counts.
