Dear Family & Friends,
I wanted to reach out to you to help me raise funds for our good friends who were effected by the Harvey. In the recent heartbreaking event of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, they lost their house, cars and are in need of your kind help.
They live in Highway 6, Houston in an area that was specifically chosen by the government to be flooded to save the larger Houston Metropolitan. On Monday August 28, the US Army Corps of Engineers which runs the reservoirs decided to release the water from the Addicks reservoir which is very close to their subdivision to control the water flow into the Buffalo Bayou. As a result of this decision, water was pushed to their neighborhood and their house and car literally sank in the water.
They decided to evacuate as the water level was rising rapidly in the streets and their house. They had to wait outside of the house to be rescued by the boats to somewhere dry so they could walk to their friend’s house.
They are still staying with friends as their home is inaccessible and they lost almost everything in this tragedy.
The extent of the damage is so severe which makes it very difficult for them to recover. They also do not have flood insurance since their home was not in a designated flood zone. All funds raised will be spent for temporarily housing and repairing damages releated to the storm. Funds will be deposited directly to their bank account.
We are asking to come together and to support them in this difficult time. I would be deeply thankful for your support to help them rebuild everything. Please also share their story with others if you can.
