Reggie's Funeral Fund

Donativo protegido
This go fund me is to help take the financial burden away from the family at this incredibly emotional time and to give their son the best send off possible.

Reggie Kane Davis was born on 26/09/2019. A beautiful boy with lots of hair and big brown eyes and a weight of 6lb 7oz’s. Although he was so beautiful he was also very sick. Reggie was born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, which meant all his organs which should of been in the abdomen instead grew in the chest and put pressure on his heart and in particular his lungs.

After a full term pregnancy and heroic natural birth mum Victoria gave him the best possible chance. The first 12 hours he was stable, but 24 hours passed by and they could not get his oxygen levels to a high enough amount, no matter what they tried, so they rang Leicester Glenfield Hospital to see if there was anything they could do and BOY DID THEY!!

They came soon after being called with a transport team and a mobile ECMO life support machine, which acts essentially as your heart and lungs. It gave them time to try and fix Reggie and they gave the family time to spend with Reggie. With the best NHS staff you could wish for, there was a real chance of getting through this!!

After a few days of stability on the paediatric intensive care unit at Glenfield Hospital they did the repair on Reggie and put all his organs in the right place. After that was successfully done, around a week later with reggie showing character and fight and so much strength, he was off the life support and off the oscillator ventilator on the Same day!! However after all the staff and Reggie doing amazingly well, a part of his bowel burst and caused fluids and gas and infections to spread, AGAIN the staff repaired the bowel and and put him back on the ECMO life support which was nothing short of miraculous.

AGAIN Reggie made it through this and made it back off life support, but after a few days of low oxygens levels the body sent the oxygen to the places needed most like the brain and heart but his bowel didn’t get enough and the bowel died and this was the end for Reggie, he was in no pain at the end and passed peacefully on 23/10/2019. Reggie was surrounded by family and in the arms of his loving parents. This was the first time they had held their baby Reggie, who was nothing short of brave and strength, he had lots of character as a baby. Reggie had no problems with his sight, hearing or brain, so when he was awake he was very alert and was very bright and did everything a normal baby would do and more. He will be sadly sadly missed by his parents and family. Reggie touched a lot of lives in a short time and hopefully this can help give them more time to grieve for Reggie and to give him the best possible send off.
