Catalina Island Science Camp

Hi everyone! I have been subbing for a 5th grade classroom for the past couple of months. Let me tell you that these kids have completely stolen my heart. I'm starting this GoFundMe page because these 5th graders are going to have the opportunity to travel to Catalina Islands for a weekend in September (when they are officially in 6th grade). They are going to have the chance to learn all about Marine Biology. They get to do fun things like kayaking, snorkeling, dissections of animals such as squid and stingrays, play ga-ga ball and so much more! It would be awesome and highly appreciated if you could help us raise enough money so that the kids can go on this field trip. Each child is being asked to pay $150 for the opportunity to go and there are 27 of them. These kids come from a low-income community background where most of their parents work the fields in Santa Maria, Ca. I don't want money to be the reason they don't get to enjoy this beautiful experience. Who knows if they'll ever have this opportunity again and I know this is something that they are going to remember for the rest of their lives!! Please feel free to spread the word! P.S.  Since I am the head teacher for this class, I will be transferring my funds into my bank account and then writing the check to the school. The sixth grade teachers along with the principal of the school will then be in charge of the funds for science camp. This plan was approved by the sixth grade team and are aware of the monitary process.
