NYC Tap Teacher Training Trip

If you're reading this, odds are you know me. If you know me than you know that tap dancing is my life and that my passion is sharing it with others.
I'm always trying to find ways to improve as a dancer and a teacher. Last year I had the privilege of attending my first tap teacher training: a weekend at Tapestry Dance in Austin, TX with Acia Gray. It was such a great experience! I learned a lot of new concepts and approaches that I was able to bring home and apply in my own classes. It changed the way I teach.
This summer, I'll be spending most of July in NYC!
I've been accepted into the American Tap Dance Foundation's Tap Teacher Training Certificate program, a week long program with some of tap dance's best. Following my trip I'll spend the next 6 months doing mentored independent work back home.
Prior to the training program I'll be spending two weeks doing a workstudy/internship at ATDF for the Tap City tap festival!
Unfortunately, once I added up the cost of the tuition, airfare, and housing (not to mention food and transportation around the city) the trip was far out of reach financially. I won't let that stop me though!
With the help of some amazing people I've already found an affordable place to stay (thanks Dallas!) have the workstudy position for Tap City (thanks Kim and Jennifer for the reccomendation letters!) and I'm in the process of planning a fundraiser at my studio (again, thank you Kim!)
...I know that there are people out there that want to help.. So, whether it's because you support me, support your child's dance education, or support the local tap community, thank you for your support! Every little bit helps :)
The Dirty Details
Cost Breakdown:
Tuition: $1,500
Airfare: ~$450
Housing: $800
30-day Metrocard: $117
Food: ~$400
Timeline:
The first thing I would like to take care of is the airfare. I don't have a set date I need to buy it by, but the sooner the better.
I've already put down one tuition deposit, the next deposit is due June 20th.
I would like to take care of the housing payment by then as well.
