Hurricane Ida Flood Relief
On September 1, 2021 on what was to have been the 75th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Live Steamers, Hurricane Ida swept through the area causing the Perkiomen River to overflow it’s banks with unprecedented flooding. Extensive damage to the clubhouse including the entire loss of the kitchen and club room are compounded by the loss of ALL flooring and interior walls throughout the building. Extensive ceiling, roofing and bathroom repairs will be required as well as complete replacement and code upgrading of nearly all of the electric service. All outbuildings were also affected including the loss of most maintenance equipment, compressors, and some building foundations are also affected. All of our computers and much of our archives are also a total loss. Personal equipment damage is still being assessed.
With NO FLOOD INSURANCE the clean up and rebuilding of our clubhouse and surrounding faculties will be the single greatest challenge in the 50 years the club has been at this location. Thankfully the track itself is largely unaffected due to the years of diligence and hard work. As a 20 year plus member as well as serving on the Board of Directors, I am asking you to join me in making a difference in encouraging this worthy endeavor to carry on. We are a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization.
