Hello my name is Allison, and I’m trying to help a lad called Jack to be able to smile again with the help of braces for his teeth.

IMAGINE when someone looks at you you clamp your jaw shut and push your chin forward, to ensure you cover your teeth? ( as shown in the first photo)

IMAGINE when someone talks to you you shy away and don’t speak?

IMAGINE when you laugh, you cover your mouth with your arm?

Well this is what it’s like for Jack on a daily basis, and has been for many years.. Jack does these things to avoid showing his protruding teeth, afraid of ridicule, bullying and remarks. He has had to endure this for so many years, that now his self confidence is non existent.

Jack is an 18 year old lad who has had a very troubled upbringing. When he was younger, a dentist strongly advised of braces being fitted but unfortunately this was never followed through by family members, leaving Jack to suffer daily bullying at school and beyond. Support was never found at home, therefore he struggled alone, in silence with no adult to guide him.

The thing Jack wishes for in the whole wide world is to be able to talk and smile with other people without the fear of rejection, to hold his head high and be proud to be Jack, these are things he has rarely experienced.

Please please Help Jack to Smile Again!

MEDICAL FACTS

The waiting list for this procedure on the NHS would be 3-5 years for anyone 18 years or over, I don’t want him to suffer that long.

Jack has had a consultation and X-rays taken by a local dentist - (report to follow )

The dentist found Jacks teeth to be severely misaligned and protruding by 14mm, due to him clenching his mouth closed in the way he has been, his jaw has caused more misalignment in his mouth. The dentist has said two teeth need to be removed, with braces fitted to both top and bottom- the braces will stay in place for more than 2 years.
