Tuesday September 18th, Robert became unexpectedly ill with ‘Legionella pneumophila’ which is a very rare and severe waterborne pneumonia.
He is in treatment at the UCHealth University Hospital in Denver, Colorado for Legionnaires' disease. The disease caused life-threatening complications ‘respiratory and kidney failure’. He has been on the highest level of life support (breathing ventilator, ECMO machine that oxygenates his blood) since Wednesday the 19th. He will start dialysis shortly.
He has medical insurance, but it does not cover all medical expenses.
The family would greatly appreciate any donations at this time which will go toward his medical and aftercare expenses.
Right now it’s unknown how long he will be on life support but once on the road to recovery he will need aftercare treatment (weeks, possibly months).
His family is currently assisting in paying for his coworkers to continue his contracted mail route ($700-$800 a week) while he undergoes treatment. That's why any donations would be greatly appreciated during this time to cover additional care costs.
