Gary Williams

When you think about growing up in Hendersonville and all the wonderful memories and life long friendships, Gary Williams comes to mind for many of us. If you saw a ball bounce across Gallatin Road, you knew Gary Williams was up to bat. When you needed a designated driver, Gary was the “Uber” back in the day. If you just needed to laugh, Gary had you covered. Today, right now, Gary needs all of our help. Gary was diagnosed with polymyositis in 2015. Polymyositis is similar to an autoimmune disease that impacts the muscles closest to the trunk, such as those in your hips, thighs, shoulders, upper arms and neck. As a result of this disease, Gary was forced to resign from his position with the local parks. Like a lot of us, Gary grew up in the park. He loved his job and he served for over 10 years. Gary has undergone numerous painful procedures including esophagus and skeletal stretches to help with swallowing and overall paralysis. Gary has been confined to a wheel chair for the past year. Financially, Gary sustained himself as long as he could but, now all his savings are gone. Gary now finds himself unable to meet his monthly financial obligations. Gary would never ask for anything on his own but, please know, his need is great and ongoing. That’s where we come in.
