Keep Olivia in her House

I’m running a GofundMe page for Olivia Powell.

Olivia is 77 years old and on a limited income. She was a therapist who treated teenagers to the elderly since 1984.  She has spent most of her life treating those with addictions of all kinds and been very successful at Couples and Marital therapy.  She recently lost her roommate and is struggling to pay the bills. I am raising funds to help repair/fix up the structural challenges of her house so she can stay there for a while and hopefully longer. Olivia has lived in this house for 30 years and she loves living here. Olivia has many good neighbors who enjoy her gardens and porches,  She only has one child who lives far away and cannot financially assist her.  Being able to stay in this house would mean the world to her. This support would really make her golden years finally golden so she could stay active in a Community she loves.

Ms Powell has some immediate needs and some that can wait awhile.  She will be grateful for your contributions.

We are raising the money for this work in this order. The costs are ballpark figures.

1.      3,500 – Stair Lift. The house has 17 stairs to the second floor where the full bathroom and bedrooms are. Olivia has trouble walking and uses either a cane, a walker, or a rollator on wheels. A Stair lift is necessary for Olivia to sleep and bathe and would really improve the quality of her life if she could easily go between the first and second floors

2.      $3,000? – Fix 2 leaks in the roof and fix the ceiling in 3 rooms. Repaint 2 rooms.

3.      $4,000 – To help with bills for the next few months. Olivia lost her roommate and her income, so she needs help making ends meet until we can get her another trustworthy roommate. Before she can rent the rooms we have to fix the leak in the roof and repaint 2 rooms.

4.      $2,000 – Electrical Work. The Electric for the Kitchen light and the Laundry room light need specialized attention by a certified electrician. 3 ceiling fans which I have already bought for her need installed. The fans will help keep heating and cooling cost down. I am not taking any money for the fans.

5.      $2,500 – Brick Pointed – The house is brick and the mortar between some of the bricks is loose or missing so it needs replacing. This is important. Eventually the brick will start falling off the house if the brick is not pointed.

6.      $4,500 – 6 new windows and a door. The house has settled so some windows and the front door are no longer level. The windows are hard to open and the screens don’t fit right anymore. She has to put duck tape around the front door in winter to keep the cold air out. Getting this done will also help keep the energy costs down.

7.      $20000. The house also needs general repair or replacing of falling lath work and ceilings

Thank you for considering the above for a woman who has served society for most of her lifetime.
