Feed and Empower 100 People with Disability in Nigeria through the RISE Project.
Hello Friends,
My name is Fidelis. I am a youth worker and disability inclusion advocate, promoting intervention services to improve the lives of at-risk youth and people with disabilities in rural and urban communities of Nigeria.
I would like to thank you once again for your generous and kind donation to our cause. So far, your support has improved the lives of over 50 persons living with disabilities in Nigeria. In 2018 when we launched the Basic Employability Skills Training and Scholarship (BESTS) Project, little did we know the impact. With little, we did 3 major empowerment programs in Nigeria between 2018 and 2019. Over 70% of our beneficiaries gained the competence, clarity and confidence to pursue a rewarding career. Some started their businesses, while others had access to more professional development opportunities
That's the good news. And we remain thankful.
But, the not-too-good-news is, we have been hit by the impact of Covid-19. One of our mentees spoke to us on how difficult it has been to feed and have access to the 'basics'of life during the lock-down. That is why we are launching the RISE Project - a Covid-19 relief for Persons with Disabilities in Ibadan, Nigeria.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
RISE -Resilience Inclusion and Support Enterprise - will build a community to promote social inclusion and economic support to people with disability so they become productive members of the society and play active roles in community life.
The goal of this campaign is to mobilize food, face masks, toiletries and relief materials to people with disabilities and their families, as well as sustain their enterprises through virtual business coaching/mentoring for profitability during the lock-down.
This is what your donation will do:
1. Provide Foodstuff and Material Relief :Covid-19 has impacted the livelihood of people with disability in Nigeria. Access to food and resources has been a huge burden as a result of the lock-down. Food, toiletries, face masks, and disinfectants will be bought and distributed to about 100 persons with disability/ care givers.
2. Monthly subscription and purchase of Data for Internet Access : An Internet connection with enough speed will allow for instant access to accurate, and timely information about the disease, prevention methods, and services.They will also have access to free online resources, two-way voice, data, and video conferencing which will remove barriers that keep people with disabilities from participating in everyday activities such as employment, education, civic responsibilities and social connection.
3. Virtual Career and Business Support : We will provide business support and coaching through bi-weekly webinars to entrepreneurs with disabilities. This will equip them with the "new economy' knowledge and skills that'd hopefully help their businesses offer high income products and services during and after Covid. We will work with volunteers to deliver online coaching and trainings in product development, service creation, sales and branding.
No amount is small! Your donation will touch lives, build the capacity of ailing youths and ensure an inclusive and economic security for people with disabilities in Nigeria.
