Pvt. Glaze Memorial Fund

The Northeast Georgia Veterans Society (NGVS) headquarted in White County, Georgia is soliciting funding to erect a statue and start a scholarship program in honor of U.S. Army Private Randall H. Glaze, who is White County's highest decorated soldier. Pvt. Glaze was killed-in-action during WWII after he singlehandedly and voluntarily attacked a German crew served weapon that had inflicted numerous casualities on his company. During his heroic action, Pvt. Glaze was wounded but continued his attack and killed the entire German crew. Pvt. Glaze died from his wounds and he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross which is the military's second highest award for combat valor. His gallent service, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty, at the cost of his life, exemplifies the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States of America.
The Glaze statue will be prominently displayed in a park in Helen, Ga. and will be visable to thousands of visitors, annualy. Two plaques will chronicle Glaze's heroic actions which were detailed in a book, "Into the Fire", by Tom Desidero, which chronicled the WWII history of Glaze's unit - the 275th Infrantry Regiment.
A scholarship, named in Pvt. Glaze's honor, will be initiated and presented to a worthy high school JROTC student who commits to attend college and pursure a ROTC program and become an officer in the U.S. military. The scholarship will be an enduring legacy of Pvt. Glaze and hopefully instill in the receipients the dedication to service, sacrifice and patriotism exhibited by him.
