OES Put the Guns Down Scholarship

The mission of this Scholarship is to issue 3 or more scholarships out to deserving college bound young men and women in Illinois on behalf of The Most Worshipful King Cyrus Grand Lodge and Sheerah Grand Chapter. 

I am running for the QUEEN of my Grand lodge and chapter and I chose to do this as my fundraiser so that I could raise as much money as I could for the scholarship.  The youth of Chicago are subjected to so much violence and poverty in todays society that we, the community, tend to turn our backs.  First step is to show them that we care and we support them.  A lot of parents cannot afford college and a lot of students do not understand that there are so many options out there for them.  When I was a child, I was taught that it takes a village to raise a child and the entire community raised us and made sure that we were going to be a success.  I only pray that you all understand how important this scholarship is, not only for me or the children, but for the future of our society.  Thank you!
