Help put a bun in our oven!

My Auntie wrote the most beautiful gift for us today and some have asked for a go fund me account to help.

Most people have heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”…the truth is, sometimes it takes a village to CREATE a child and, as many of you know, that is the situation for Amber and David.My name is Mary Pudmoreff and I am Amber’s Aunt which means I have had the honour of knowing her all of her life. As you probably know, Amber has a HUGE heart and she pours love out to the children in her life whether they are nieces, nephews or the children of friends. She is thoughtful, giving, loving and generous with her time, her money, her energy and her spirit as she shows her passion to children and to families. I do not know David as well, but in the time I have spent with him I have seen him be attentive and loving toward my own daughter and I have seen the way the cherishes and nurtures Amber and I’m certain he would be an amazing Dad.

I know that I am not the only person who has said to them, “You will make awesome parents” and “I can’t wait for you to have kids”. Unfortunately, they have faced many hurdles in their attempts to have a baby: invasive and painful tests, surgeries, failed interventions, medications, injections and costly procedures like IUI’s. It was all going to be worth it if it meant they could have a child. Briefly, very briefly, Amber and David were able to experience hope, excitement and joy…a pregnancy…the family they dreamed about and worked so hard for was finally coming true. However, the brief joy was followed by a burst fallopian tube and Amber’s life was in danger. Emergency surgery meant the loss of their baby, the loss of Amber’s tube and immense grief and sorrow that was only to be followed by more terrible news “your last fallopian tube is a risk to your life and it must be removed”. And so, that leaves with them with only two options for building their family: pregnancy by IVF or beginning the adoption process. I know they are very pro-adoption, but Amber felt what it was like to be pregnant and to have life within her and she and David knew that they created that little life…they both desperately want to try at least one round of IVF to see if they can conceive a child with the assistance of science. The problem....the cost will be about $15,000. Whether they choose IVF or adoption, the cost is around $10,000 to $15,000.

I told Amber that I hadn’t been to a destination wedding before but I really didn’t want to haul a gift for her and David to Mexico just for her to have to haul back (seemed pointless). I asked her if, instead of a gift, I could make a donation to their IVF costs as my wedding gift. Of course, she and David were both open to the idea, especially since David has been taking on extra work to try to save for it. Then, I asked if I could write an invitation to others to make donations as well…
So, if you are planning to bless Amber and David with a wedding gift, please keep in mind that they don’t need a blender or a toaster… they need a “bun in the oven”. PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A FINANCIAL DONATION TOWARD THEIR IVF IN LIEU OF A GIFT.

There will be a “wishing well” set up in Mexico for cards and donations, but to avoid travelling out of country with extra money, e-transfers can be made to them or cheques can be mailed directly to Amber & David (or contact them for other arrangements).
