Help Provide Surgical Masks to Protect Healthcare Practitioners
As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to expand across Georgia, healthcare providers in your local hospitals and communities are desperate for facemasks. This situation is so dire that many healthcare providers are resorting to reusing face masks or using homemade bandanas or masks.
With your help, we can provide thousands more surgical masks to healthcare practitioners in Georgia.
In the spirit of collaboration, Georgia dentists and their healthcare colleagues from across the country are utilizing resources shared by The Georgia Dental Association’s (“GDA”) COVID-19 Innovation Task Force to design homemade facemasks using parts generated from 3-D printers. These homemade masks have become a springboard of innovation for other like-minded healthcare providers. Some of these homemade designs have even been fit-tested by universities for use or are currently awaiting results.[1] These innovations, although not FDA, CDC, or NIOSH approved, could provide a temporary stop-gap measure for healthcare workers until more PPE is available.
GDA member dentists are donating the homemade masks they build to healthcare workers and hospitals at no charge and are paying for the source materials out of their own pockets. Demand is outpacing their resources, but with your financial donation, the GDA Foundation for Oral Health can assist our members’ mask building efforts and support their innovative spirit during this challenging time.
