Get your kettle on!

Georgia Welsh is a young lady who has grown immensely as a person in the past three years.  Her introduction to the sport of Kettle Bell Lifting has been transformational, taking her from a shy introverted 11 year old to a confident outgoing teenager who serves as a role model to others in our district.  What’s more, she’s a world champion! Georgia is the current holder of a junior world title in Super Marathon Kettlebells, lifting an 8kg Kettlebell from ground level to above head height, non-stop for 2 hrs 1,632 times.  To put that in to perspective, a three litre carton of milk weighs 3 kg.  See if you can lift that up above your head every 4.5 seconds for 2 hrs straight.
Georgia has transformed from a shy year 7 student to a confident year 9 leader and World Champion.  Thank you Kettle Bells!

Georgia is from a champion family that owns a modest beef producing farm at Calivil.  Like most primary producers, there are some times that are financially tougher than others. In this present climate of pending drought they are facing the prospect of some lean years. Her family are the first to help out others in need through the school or broader community. Mum, (Leanne) is a huge supporter of the East Loddon Community House, which has included services such as, administers a food bank, opportunity shop, assists VCAL students to gain building and carpentry skills. Leanne is also the President of the Parents Association at East Loddon P12 College. She encourages and assists staff in organising fundraising events such as deb balls, fete and staff submissions for resources. You know that person that organises Santa to bring a present for each student at your local school?  Well that's Leanne.  Darren (Georgia's father) is a member of the School Council and also drives one of our school buses.  Best described as a gentle giant (and potentially where Georgia has inherited her strength), he is a great fellow to have around when something needs to be shifted. If there is a working bee to attend or a sponge to be cooked, you can always rely on the Welsh family.  We love them, they are the type of family that every community needs.

Leanne is also the person that cooks enough food for a week and brings it around to your home when you are unwell and in need.

Georgia was introduced to Kettle Bell Lifting through a teacher (Hayley Lethlean) at our College. From here, her passion, skills and commitment grew rapidly. We have all watched in awe as she rapidly climbed through the ranks to become the best in the world.  Like everything they are involved in, mum and dad have supported Georgia all the way with her chosen sport.  This has meant funding trips to the  World Championships in Denmark 2016 and Italy in 2017.  Though they regularly give of their own time voluntarily to help others in need they would feel uncomfortable asking others to assist in the funding of a trip for Georgia to attend another World Championship event.

They would feel uncomfortable, but we wouldn't!  We are asking interested people and perhaps those that the Welsh family has helped in the past, (no doubt there are a lot of you), to donate a little so that together we can send our world champ Georgia to Spain in November to defend her title.  Any assistance would be appreciated but we understand that $10000 would cover all visas airfares, accommodation and other costs involved with this trip.  If you understand how important families like the Welsh's are to a small community OR if you know the impact that sport can have on a persons confidence OR if you have ever seen the spirits of a school lifted by the achievements of one child, then please consider donating.  Thanks in advance, Go Georgia!
