Nepal Earthquake- Education Fund

Donation protected
A powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck near the Nepal's capital city , Kathmandu, on Saturday 25th April killing thousands of people and toppling buildings.  The situation is devastating- thousand of people have lost their loved ones.

I am raising funds to support to deliver relief supplies in Sindhupalchok and Makawanpur districts.

Sindhupalchok is one of the most affected districts, which was the epicentre of a powerful aftershock - measuring 6.7 magnitudes. As a result more than 90% houses were damaged and over 1500 people have died in this district alone.  NEST, a charity which I founded in 2000 and ICFON will deliver the first relief supplies to victims of Thauthali and neighbouring villages of Sindhupalchok district on the 30th April. These villages have personal meanings to my life.  These were the villages where my parents lived for several years and my brothers and sisters were born and brought up.

Makawanpur is the district where NEST has set up more than 150 school libraires with the support from Room to Read, and run educational projects including Prajwal School in partnership with Everest of Apples, Amori, Japan.   Know My World in the USA has supported Prajwal School with teacher development and education exchange programmes.

While several governments have offered financial supports to the Nepalese government, it's absolutely heart-breaking to hear that victims haven’t received any relief supplies such as medicine, foods and tents until now.

NEST has past experience of mobilising grass root volunteers to deliver relief supplies. All donations will be transparently published on NEST’s website and   we make sure that every penny you donate goes to immediate relief for the communities that are most affected and we publish the information of  the total cost of each item donated with your money.
