<div>We are reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of our grandchild, Kristina “Tina” Carwile, who lives with epilepsy, autism, and dyslexia. Just in the past 3 months she has suffered 4 very severe Grand Mal seizures, with 2 being while asleep. During her seizures she has been vomiting, which has caused her to choke. She has also had to make several hospital visits due to her hitting her head. She recently had such a seizure while traveling on a school band trip to another school. Her mother, a former CCC employee, has had to stop working to take her to and from school and to any school associated functions, like field trips, as she cannot ride the bus due to the liability. To help monitor and respond quickly to her medical needs, we are raising funds to purchase an EpiMonitor device, a specialized tool that provides continuous monitoring and life-saving alerts.

<div>The EpiMonitor is an FDA-cleared medical device that looks like a smartwatch and continuously tracks important signals in the body. If it detects a seizure, it can automatically send an alert to caregivers so help arrives quickly. The device also keeps a record of seizure activity, sleep, and daily patterns, giving doctors valuable information to better manage treatment. For children like Tina, this technology provides both safety and peace of mind, ensuring that no critical moment is missed.

<div>Unfortunately, the cost of this device presents a financial challenge because her parents insurance will not cover it at all. In addition to the purchase price, the EpiMonitor requires a monthly subscription fee to maintain the alerting system and data tracking features. Both are essential for the device to function fully and provide the life-saving protection it was designed for.

<div>This device would bring tremendous peace of mind to our family and ensure that Tina can live more safely, with early detection of emergencies and faster intervention when every second counts. Unfortunately, the cost of this equipment is more than we can manage on our own, which is why we are asking for help from kind friends, family, and community members.
