Bar 4 Bar Music Composition Program

Want to join in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit Fred the Godson Foundation Inc (Fred The Godson Foundation), and any donation will help with the implementation of "Bar 4 Bar", a creative and inspiring music composition program that will create a safe and collaborative environment for our youth to learn, explore, create and acquire skills that will also uplift and enhance the quality of the community.

The Fred The Godson Foundation is partnering with local community centers and schools to bring this much-needed music program to the youth of the Bronx and New York City. Fred The Godson was known as one of the best lyricists of his time, and in his honor, we want to help build those same skills and passion. It is our hope this will serve as a deterrent to the youth violence that plagues our communities, and give them an opportunity to emerge their minds, time and energy, into the creative arts. We want to show them that with passion, skill, dedication and focus, the opportunities are endless. They too can become successful like Fred The Godson.

This music composition program “Bar for Bar”, will develop the student's understanding of how to make quality, professional hip-hop songs or freestyle. The music composition program is a 10-week course, where students will be immersed in a weekly 2-hour workshop focused on hip-hop history, and how to write lyrics, hooks and melodies. Participants will learn how to formulate ideas and concepts by studying creative writing, how to deliver their ideas, how to freestyle and more importantly how to turn their pain and struggle into something positive; art. Classes will be facilitated by music educators, industry professionals and URL/ Wild N' Out's top battle rappers with expertise in the art of rapping and freestyling, who share a common goal; to save our youth.

As part of the development of this program, we recognized that writing and creating alone will not be enough to satisfy the void. We want to empower our youth to not just be consumers, or blindly create for others, but creators who are owning their publishing, lead their own companies and manage their brands for themselves and their future.
