The good news is, he's home. He spent his first night at home which was challenging, but we both managed a few hours sleep. His wheelchair should be here next week, fingers crossed.

We're sorted now thanks to a very generous donor...absolutely blown away!

We are already unbelievably bowled over by everyone's generosity and can't thank everyone enough for their well wishes, cards and support x

The good news is, most of his dressings are off and his wounds are healing well as is his leg. No need for further surgery! His white blood count is still slightly higher than it should be so he will be on ABs for a little while longer. The bad news is he will need single level living from now on so we need to be looking for somewhere else to live which I will be trying to sort before he gets home.

Enormous thanks to you all and to the emergency services - where would we be without them?

Time is moving on and Paul is doing a lot better albeit still in an awful lot of pain. We are hoping he comes off the drip today and has the cast on his hand removed. This, again, is going to take a lot of hard work due to the tendons being damaged.

He has been up and out of bed for a very short time which left him tired and in pain but he's determined to be out of hospital this week. I think he's being overly optimistic because he's pushing himself but we will see.

There are no words to thank you for all your donations, message and support - not least #TeamLemmy who have organised a walking rota for the pug!

We have had a VERY generous donation of a bed from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. I am going to leave the fundraiser going though as a lot of people have asked how they can help. He lost all his clothes and trainers in the crash so we will need to replace at least his trainers and his cut and I, personally, will need petrol to travel to the hospital and back for his follow up appointments, plus things to make his life easier once he gets home. If you are not in a position to donate (and let's face it, everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment), could you please share this fundraiser.

I saw the x-rays of his leg yesterday and to be honest, his leg would have been like a piece of plasticine. He has a rod and lots of pins in and is going to be in hospital at least for another week and a half and then a very long recuperation at home.

Hi, as most of you know, Paul has recently had a bad crash. The surgeons said that typically someone presenting with an injury such as his (broken femur in several places which was an open wound, broken tibia in several places) would require amputation. Thankfully, they worked tirelessly for about 11 hours on 23/24th August.

As this is an ongoing case, the specifics can't be discussed other than to say he also sustained a fracture to his arm, which also severed the tendons. He is currently, and obviously, in a lot of pain and using his morphine button like it's a fidget spinner. He needs a further operation on his tibia and plastic surgery on his thigh.

I would love to be able to get him a bed for the room with the ensuite. There isn't one at the moment, and it will undoubtedly make his recovery months (anything from 6-12 ) easier for him.

I don't really know what else to say but will happily answer any questions anyone has and thank you in advance, even if you have just read this far
