Puppy Needs New Legs

Tax deductible
Volunteers at Foster Army Animal Rescue were stunned when they got the call.  A tiny, 6 week old puppy had just been turned into the shelter with both of his front legs broken.  We only had a few hours to decide if we could take the puppy in, find a foster, and pick him up from the shelter.  The answer to the first question was easy.... of course we would take him in.  That’s what we do.

FAAR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit pet rescue that specializes in animals most at-risk of getting put to sleep at the shelter.  Our fosters have big enough hearts to take in these “eleventh hour” broken angels, help them in their long road to recovery, and send them off to their forever homes when adoption day comes.

A team was quickly formed to help this puppy, now named Oliver. While his new foster mom quickly got her house ready for a puppy that can’t walk, another volunteer sped down to the shelter to pick him up. It was worse than we feared.  Despite the shelter’s loving efforts to monitor his pain and splint his legs, Oliver was very weak, and very afraid.  We don’t know who or what hurt him.... but we promised him he would never be treated like that again.  Oliver is currently at the vet, being prepared for a difficult surgery.  The vet bills are already mounting, and we need your help to save Oliver... and many others like him.
